Preparing Your Garage Door for a New Jersey Winter
Before New Jersey's first hard freeze hits, take an hour to winterize your garage door. It could save you from a very cold, very inconvenient breakdown.
Pre-Winter Checklist:
1. Lubricate everything — Use a cold-weather lubricant on springs, hinges, rollers, and cables. Standard grease thickens in cold and stops working.
2. Check the bottom seal — Run your hand along the bottom of the closed door. Any gaps let in cold air, water, and pests. Replace if cracked.
3. Check weatherstripping on the sides and top — Look for cracks, tears, or separation.
4. Test your opener — Cold affects opener performance. Make sure it opens and closes fully without hesitation.
5. Inspect springs — Cold makes springs more brittle. If yours are old, consider replacing proactively before winter.
6. Clear the area — Make sure snow and ice don't build up in front of the door or in the tracks.
7. Schedule a tune-up — Our technicians will catch anything you might miss.
Don't wait for a breakdown. Call us before winter arrives.
